TROY ROTARY AND LINCOLN COMMUNITY CENTER REPRESENTED AT PEACE HEROES WALK
May 5, 2015
TROY, OHIO <5 May 2015> More than a dozen walkers from Troy Rotary and the Lincoln Community Center (pictured) participated in the inaugural 2015 Peace Heroes Walk on Saturday, 2 May 2015, at RiverScape MetroPark in Dayton, Ohio. LCC’s executive director, Shane Carter, was Rotary’s nominee as its 2015 Peace Hero, based on his tireless dedication to improving the lives of area youth through programs that stress the importance of self-esteem, integrity and success.
The walk paid tribute to the 20th anniversary of the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords that helped end the violence in Bosnia. Proceeds from the walk will benefit the mission of the Dayton International Peace Museum and those of the National Conference on Community and Justice of Greater Dayton. Initial estimates show a total of over $61,000 in tax deductible pledges have been generated, with the chance to donate still open. If you’d like to make a tax deductible donation, visit www.peaceheroeswalk.org or call 937-999-7314 for assistance.
Rotarians, and the Troy Rotary Foundation, support several community projects each year. More than $11,000 in community aid and scholarships was distributed during the 2013-14 Rotary year. Follow the club’s activities on their Troy Rotary Club Facebook page.
