ROTARIAN WAYNE SNYDER RECOGNIZED AS ‘PAUL HARRIS FELLOW’
November 17, 2014
One thing that can be said about Troy Rotarians is that they are dedicated to supporting the advancement of young people through community programs, leadership opportunities and academic endowment. During their November 11 meeting, the Club recognized Wayne Snyder as a “Paul Harris Fellow,” thanks to his contributions to the The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Established in 1957, the Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of US$1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. These funds are used for Rotary’s Ambassadorial Scholarships each year to encourage graduate-level studies at universities around the world. With this recognition, he joins more than one million other generous donors around the world who have contributed funds for postgraduate studies.
Snyder, a broker/owner with Galbreath Realty, Inc., has been a proud member of the Troy community since he and his wife relocated here in 1964 from northwest Ohio. He is an avid reader, so his support of the Ambassadorial Scholarships is no surprise. When he’s not busy with work, Snyder enjoys boating and spending time in nature.
Locally, Rotarians contribute to the Troy Rotary Foundation to support several community projects annually. In 2013-14, more than $11,000 in scholarships and community aid was distributed from the fund, including the Troy Rotary Interact Club and Troy Rotary Community Service scholarships for local Troy students.
